A presentation-cum-interaction session on rope conveying technology was organized by M/s Doppelmayr, Austria along with their official Indian partner M/s TTGA Pvt. Ltd., Gurgaon at Coal Mining Headquarters (CMHQ), Ranchi on 26.09.2022.

“RopeCon®” is a very versatile technology which can address extremely difficult terrain for material transportation above ground, underground as well as for backfilling & restoration of exhausted mine pits. This conveying system, as learnt, has a very promising availability of 99.8% and is more environmentally friendly than the conventional troughed conveyor system. Further, the smooth operation and comparative distant spacing of supporting trestles allow the suitability of the system for thickly populated areas as well as wherever the acquisition of land is a roadblock.

The session was chaired by Sh. Partha Mazumder, RED (Coal Mining). Representatives of all coal mining projects and CMHQ were also present.

In his address, RED (Coal Mining) stated that, in its growth path, NTPC has always paid importance on the induction of state-of-the-art technologies. NTPC is exploring the techno-economical feasibility of the above system focusing transportation of coal in Jharkhand, from its Chatti Bariatu Coal Mining Project to the North Karanpura Super Thermal Power Plant.
